Kibaki is partyless! Say what? And guess who is intervening: Arap Toroitich Daniel Moi. Yet Kinbaki is not a KANU stalwart.
What the hell is going on? Why Moi does not mind to overlook this only goes to show how anxious he is to play Kibaki as the buffer to forces he is quite desperate to stop. Kanu is in no shape to play this role right now, and he knows it.
To counter Moi, ODM-Kenya and ODM should seized the opportunity to portray Kibaki as another "project" the way Uhuru Kenyatta was similarly portrayed. The tactic here is to focus on Moi, whose particular presidential record remains an issue of contention. In contrast, Kibaki is hardly somebody one can portray as malign. Even his current opponents, if they were to be genuinely honest with themselves, agree on that account. For this reason, he would have remained a very slippery person to demonise on a personal level.
